Gabriel Range is best known for directing the controversial mockumentary Death of a President. According to Variety, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has just hired him to direct a new drama for Paramount Pictures.

The untitled story will revolve around a man who turns up at a stranger's house and claims to be that family's long lost son. Range stated, "Of all the stories I covered while making documentaries, this was the most extraordinary story I've ever come across, with the most extraordinary central character, whom I'd spent hours interviewing in a federal detention center."

He continued by saying, "If I'd depicted the assassination of a sitting president purely for entertainment, with nothing else to say, that would have been worthy of all the criticism. We tried to raise political consciousness and explore what that administration did after 9/11, and using the assassination as a starting point certainly drew an audience to those issues."
