Gale Anne Hurd is getting mechanical with a new graphic novel project. According to Variety, Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures has purchased the rights to the graphic novel, Gearhead, for Hurd to produce the adaptation.

The graphic novel was created by Dennis Hopeless and Kevin Mellon and ran in a four-part serial for Arcana Comics. The story revolves around a young woman who leaves the drag racing world to join up with a group of rebels trying to overthrow the corrupt superheroes now governing the United States.

No production schedule was released for the film. Hurd's most recent productions are the comic-book adaptation The Incredible Hulk and the forthcoming Punisher: War Zone.
