Lauren Shuler Donner, producer of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has the future of the X-Men franchise in her hands, and she has big plans, including possible films that would star fan-favorite characters Deadpool and Gambit. Shuler Donner spoke to IESB about the future films in the franchise, where she revealed what we could see from future X-Men films.

Firstly, Shuler Donner spoke about whether we might see either Gambit or Deadpool in her upcoming X-Men: First Class. She said that wouldn't be the case - after all neither character was a part of Xavier's first class of students (which from watching the films would seem to consist of Jean Grey, Scott Summers/Cyclops, Hank McCoy/the Beast and Ororo Munroe/Storm). But Gambit is one of Shuler Donner's favorite characters, saying he's "such a rogue." And she did say that there were internal discussions about a Gambit spin-off, and "they are going to figure all that out."

Shuler Donner also hinted that Bryan Singer, who directed the first two X-Men films, might be open to returning for another film, saying "Nothing would please me more than to bring Bryan [Singer] on for another movie. And, if it's like the first Deadpool or the first Gambit, I think, I mean, I hope he would be interested..."

So, according to Shuler Donner that gives us four possible X-Men film ahead of us, including X-Men: First Class, X-Men Origins: Magneto, and now possible films for both Deadpool and Gambit. Of course, all of this assumes that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a success.
