CBS Films has acquired the distribution rights for the upcoming caper Gambit, a remake of the 1966 British movie which starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine.

This new version of Gambit stars new Oscar winner Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz. The story centers on a British art curator (Colin Firth), who tries to convince a wealthy collector to buy a fake Monet painting. He hires Cameron Diaz's character, a Texas steer roper, to play the fictional granddaughter of the man who helped acquire the painting after World War II.

Michael Hoffman (The Last Station) will direct from a script by Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. Mike Lobell will produce along with Rob Paris and Rizal Risjad.

Production is slated to begin in May, with principal photography to take place in London.
