With Channing Tatum's Gambit already set for release on October 7, 2016, production will surely start sometime later this year. Earlier this week, Channing Tatum revealed the Gambit script by Joshua Zetumer has been completed, but the project still doesn't have a director attached yet. Today we have a new report that Channing Tatum himself has approached four marquee directors to take the helm on Gambit, all of whom have turned him down.

The actor/producer has reportedly approached his Foxcatcher director Bennett Miller, Darren Aronofsky (Noah), Gareth Evans (The Raid: Redemption) and J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year), all of whom turned the project down. It isn't known if this quartet of filmmakers turned down Gambit because they weren't interested in tackling this character, or if they simply can't fit it into their schedule. It remains to be seen which filmmaker Channing Tatum will go after next.

None of these filmmakers have experience in the superhero genre, but you may recall that Darren Aronofsky was once attached to make The Wolverine, before James Mangold signed on. Very little is known about the Gambit story, but Channing Tatum did hint that it will tie into X-Men franchise in unspecified ways. Who do you think should should direct Gambit?
