Now that 20th Century Fox's Gambit finally has a director in place, with Channing Tatum set to star and Rupert Wyatt taking the helm, production is just a few months away from getting started. Showbiz 411 reports that filming will begin this October in New Orleans, under the code name Chess. The site has also obtained a casting breakdown for numerous characters that are currently being cast in Gambit.

The character descriptions are quite vague, and it isn't known if any of these roles are based on characters from the Marvel comic books. It also is unclear how large or small these roles may be. Some of these characters being cast are Louis, a character in his 40s or 50s described as "elegant and intelligent. He is also said to be an "appealing entrepreneur with an unexpected dark side." There is also Vera, a character in her mid 20s to early 30s, who is "beautiful, smart, tough, fiery and unpredictable."

There are two characters that are particularly interesting, Nash and Wilhelm, with the descriptions hinting that they could be brothers. Nash is in his mid 20s to early 30s, while Wilhelm is in his 30s. Nash is described as a "potent threat" and the heir to his mother's business, but the mother isn't listed in this casting call, since there are no female roles that would be the appropriate age to be Nash's mother. Wilhelm is a "dangerous street criminal" who is also violent but "protective and loyal to his family."

While most of these roles can be played by actors of any ethnicity, there are four roles that are for specific types. Boris is a Hispanic male in his 20s, who is, "charming, handsome, and dangerous," with Clarissa, a mixed-race female between 10 and 12 years old, is said to be, "ethereal, other worldly and very expressive." There is also a French male criminals in his 40s, named Wolfgang, a role which requires the actors to be fluent in the French language. The final ethnic-specific role is Howard, a Caucasian in his 50s described as a "refined European mobster," who also speaks fluent French.

The only other female role in the list is Nonna, an "uptight, corporate" woman in her mid 20s to 30s, who is said to be "vicious" and "sexual." Other roles include Wes, a "soulful and sensitive" male in his mid 20s - mid 30s, who is aspirational but weak minded," Fritz, a professional thief and con artist between the ages of 40 and 50, the "dim-witted and passive" Gary, in his mid 20s to early 30s, the hired gun Joe, the black sheep of a working class family, and the orphaned street kid Ben, described as a "disaffected outsider" in his 20s, who is just becoming an adult. What do you think about these new Gambit characters? Can you find any connections to the comic books?
