Last week, HBO released the trailer for Season 5 of HBO's Game of Thrones, featuring the first footage from this highly-anticipated season, debuting Sunday, April 12 at 9 PM ET. While we still have a few months left until the new episodes arrive, visual effects company Pixomondo have released an extended behind-the-scenes featurette that shows how they brought the dragons to life in Season 4 of the hit series. This four-minute video showcases footage from the show featuring Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen on set by herself, and the steps that Pixomondo takes to create these fire-breathing dragons in a digital environment, before they are inserted into the live-action footage.

Unfortunately, this video doesn't show us any Season 5 footage, and it isn't clear quite yet how much of an impact Dany and her dragons will have on the Season 5 story line. Fans can also watch the last two Season 4 episodes in IMAX theaters across the country, with tickets still available for these screenings, which run until February 5. HBO will also debut a new special entitled A Day in the Life on Sunday, February 8, which will take fans behind-the-scenes over one day of production in three different countries.
