Last week, HBO debuted a new preview that highlights the costume work on Game of Thrones Season 7, which premieres Sunday, July 16 at 9 PM ET on HBO. Today we have the next installment in this series of videos, which highlights the special effects work done on the series, along with several new photos. These images tease some intriguing developments, including the reveal that Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer) has seemingly made his way to Winterfell, which could be quite interesting with the great war looming. If you aren't caught up with Game of Thrones yet, there will be SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.

Watchers On the Wall discovered these photos from a number of international broadcasters, which offer our first look at Beric Dondarrion in Season 7. You may recall that towards the end of Season 6, we learned that Sandor "The Hound" Clegane (Rory McCann) was in fact alive and well, after being left for dead by both Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) at the end of Season 4. He was rescued by Septon Ray (Ian McShane), a former mercenary who served the Faith of the Seven. Ray and most of his people were killed by the Brotherhood Without Banners, and when seeking out their killer, The Hound runs into Beric Dondarrion and Thoros of Myr (Paul Kaye), who convince him to join their cause as they head north to battle the White Walkers.

Unfortunately, we don't get to see The Hound in these new photos, but with Beric now arriving in the North, his Brotherhood could be an important ally in the fight against the Night's King and his massive army of White Walkers. A few of these new photos also feature Samwell Tarly, who is now studying to become a maester in Oldtown, and it seems that Gilly is also studying as well. These photos also showcase what looks to be an important meeting in Winterfell, with Jon Snow (Kit Harington), who was named the new King In the North at the end of Season 6, seen addressing a number of important characters such as Liam Cunningham's Davos Seaworth, Gwendoline Christie's Brienne of Tarth, Daniel Portman's Podrick Payne, Kristofer Hivju's Tormund Giantsbane, Bella Ramsey's Lyanna Mormont, Tim McInnerny's Robett Glover and Rupert Vansittart's Yohn Royce. The final image also feature Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

The new HBO preview features special effects supervisor Sam Conway, who reveals that his father served as his inspiration, since he worked on special effects for several Monty Python films, along with a number of Terry Gilliam films as well. This video features behind-the-scenes footage of Emilia Clarke riding on one of the rigs that represents Daenerys Targaryen's dragons. Sam Conway also reveals how "destructive" his job is, explaining that they have to figure out how to craft each scene so they get the end result the producers and filmmakers require of a scene. We also get behind-the-scenes footage of how the show pulls off some of their practical explosions on the set.

Game of Thrones Season 7 will span just seven episodes, three less than fans are used to, since each previous season has spanned 10 episodes. It has also been confirmed that Game of Thrones Season 8 will be the show's final season, which will span just six episodes, although it may not debut until early 2019, although the exact premiere date has yet to be confirmed. Take a look at all of these new photos and the Game of Thrones Season 7 preview below.
