Last night's Game of Thrones episode is now tied for the series low on Rotten Tomatoes. Episode 5 saw a lot happen within its 80 minutes, which has only strengthened the arguments that the past few seasons have been moving too fast and neglecting character development while completely wasting others. Obviously, this is a matter of opinion, and Rotten Tomatoes has given an extra voice for fans to place their discontent with the series. There are SPOILERS for last night's Game of Thrones below, so read ahead at your own risk.

Game of Thrones Season 8, episode 5 is currently at a 54% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which ties for the series low. Before last night's episode, Season 5's Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken was the lowest rating of the series. The second lowest rating is at 57% for this season's The Last of the Starks. One of the biggest complaints seems to be the way the final season has handled Daenerys' story arc. Watching her completely lose it and torch innocent people with a dragon was a bit much for some to handle, and they wonder where it came from.

While Game of Thrones has been moving pretty quickly, the episodes have been longer lately, allowing more time to stretch out. Daenerys has been building towards her "mad queen" story arc since the end of last season. With that being said, there is also the death of Varys that has many fans angry too, much like watching Jon Snow leave Ghost behind or watching the Night King go down really easily.

Another problem fans had with last night's episode was the death of Cersei and Jaime. After waiting eight years to see Cersei get it, she and Jaime die after some castle rubble falls on them. Arya doesn't get a chance to stab her in the face like Game of Thrones fans were hoping. Their ending was seen as anti-climactic, which is pretty understandable. With only one episode left, fans are starting to wonder how everything is going to play out. Many fans feel that there is a lot of explaining to do in order to make all of this right.

When it comes down to it, Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin never finished books six and seven, though it is rumored he has them finished now. The show has been going on without books six and seven, though Martin has collaborated with showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss on the broad storylines he had worked out. Regardless, fans seem to miss the more in-depth storytelling, which developed their favorite characters over seasons, instead of episodes. Regardless, there's only one more episode to go. There's only 80 minutes left and then it's all over. You can head over to Rotten Tomatoes to check out the current rating of last night's episode.
