Game of Thrones season 8 has been very divisive and some angry fans are taking matters into their own hands. A new petition demanding "competent" writers come on to remake season 8 has been set up and its gaining some serious momentum. Earlier today, the petition had an impressive 16,000 signatures, but as of this writing, there are now nearly 30,000 and one can easily watch the signatures update in real-time. It's pretty crazy to see such an intense backlash occur. There are Game of Thrones SPOILERS below, so read ahead at your own risk.

HBO's Game of Thrones has made some pretty big changes over the last few seasons, which is also when they ran out of source material from George R.R. Martin. Instead of stories taking multiple episodes, and in some cases multiple seasons, story arcs are now getting blasted through a single episode and fans are not happy at all. This is where the petition comes in. Fans want somebody to come in and remake the entirety of season 8. You can read the mission statement below.

"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on. This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

One of the biggest complaints about Game of Thrones season 8 has been Daenerys' storyline. Many fans are truly upset to see the Mother of Dragons and the breaker of chains seemingly become the Mad Queen out of nowhere. The season and the series as a whole has been building to this moment, but angry fans are mad out how fast it has all played out. Daenerys is suddenly crazy and just murdered thousands of innocent adults and children.

Another point of contention is the Jaime and Cersei ending. Jaime had been building and evolving throughout the whole show to a likable character, only to have him disregard all of it and go crawling back to Cersei to die. Cersei, one of the biggest villains in the history of storytelling showed fear and was killed by falling rocks with her brother/lover. Again, Game of Thrones fans are not happy with the way this all went down. It's unclear where they wanted it to go, but they definitely would have been okay with it had it taken a whole season to develop.

Making Game of Thrones is not cheap and keeping the massive cast under contract while waiting for George R.R. Martin to complete books six and seven is impossible. Once the show ran out of source material, it went with tight and compact storylines, which is the complete opposite of what the show was doing when it had pages and pages of story from Martin to flesh out. If anything, Game of Thrones fans should be placing their anger elsewhere, specifically to the guy who couldn't put out book six in a timely manner.
