George R.R. Martin is out to remind fans that there are more Game of Thrones spin-offs in the works. There were originally five, but the author insists there are three in various stages of development currently. Fans of the original hit show are a bit on the anxious side at this time since there are only two episodes left to go and the last one left things on a rather unsettling tone. Whatever the case may be, there is more GOT on the way, but it's going to be a lot different from the current show.

HBO is going to have a pretty big gap to fill with the Game of Thrones absence on the way. For now, writer Jane Goldman's spin-off is preparing to begin production with star Naomi Watts. The other two are a bit more of a mystery. George R.R. Martin had this to say in a new blog post on his website.

"Oh, and speaking of television, don't believe everything you read. Internet reports are notoriously unreliable. We have had five different Game of Thrones successor shows in development (I mislike the term 'spinoffs') at HBO, and three of them are still moving forward nicely. The one I am not supposed to call The Long Night will be shooting later this year, and two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer. What are they about? I cannot say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of FIRE & BLOOD and come up with your own theories."

Should we all rush out to purchase Fire & Blood to get info on the three "successor series"? That will have to be a personal decision, especially since only one of those shows is heading towards actually happening at this time. The Long Night was the name of the infamous Game of Thrones Season 8, episode 4 where the Night King got taken down. Martin seems to be a little annoyed he cannot use the title any more.

One thing that does not make George R.R. Martin annoyed is talking about his love for Avengers: Endgame. Before even addressing Game of Thrones, the author wrote a mini review of the record breaking Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, praising the Russo Brothers and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Martin really enjoyed that they were able to incorporate so many characters and thanked the studio for not making a "big dumb action movie."

George R.R. Martin should probably be figuring out what exactly is going on with these new Game of Thrones successor series. The main show surpassed his books and he has never recovered from that, despite the fans begging for more material. It's a bit too late for that now, especially considering the show is almost over. For now, fans should be happy to know there are at least three possible shows on the way to make up for the loss of the original. You can read the whole post over at George R.R. Martin's website.
