Gary Oldman is in talks to join the cast of Rain Fall, a thriller set in Japan. Shiina Kippei (Shinobi) and Akiho Hasegawa star.

According to Variety, the film, adapted from a novel by best-selling American author Barry Eisler, depicts the story of a hit man who is forced to protect the daughter of one of his victims against assassination by the CIA.

Rain Fall will be the second directorial project for writer/director Max Mannix (Dance of the Dragon). The film will be shot predominantly in Japanese, with 15% English dialogue.

The film begins production next month.
