Following the recent confirmation that the upcoming The Boys spinoff will be titled Gen V, a new synopsis has now emerged which calls the series “part college show, part Hunger Games.” Revealed courtesy of Amazon Prime Video, the synopsis for Gen V teases more of what The Boys fans can expect from this next adventure set in the world of The Boys as it introduces us to a set of adolescent supes.

“Gen V is set at America’s only college exclusively for superheroes, run by Vought International. Gen V is an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. It’s part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.”

So, Gen V will put young adult supe against young adult supe, as they are tested a Hunger Games-style challenge. The spinoff will take place at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, an establishment run by Vought International of course, with the comparison to the deadly games of hunger telling us all we need to know about the direction of Gen V. And all The Boys-style violence that will follow as we explore a whole new arena of the Prime Video superhero universe.

A recent teaser for Gen V revealed some of the cast for the spinoff series. Gen V will star Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Lizze Broadway as Emma Shaw, Patrick Schwarzenegger as Golden Boy, Sean Patrick Thomas as Polarity, and Marco Pigossi as Doctor Edison Cardosa. The likes of Chance Perdomo, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn.

Gen V will involve many of the names behind The Boys, with the series being created by Craig Rosenberg, a writer and executive producer on hugely Prime Video comic book adaptation. The likes of Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Tara Butters, Brant Englestein, Garth Ennis, Evan Goldberg, Ken Le in, Ori Marmur, Neal H. Moritz, Jason Netter, Darick Robertson, and Erica Rosbe will be involved in the making of Gen V as executive producers.

Alongside Gen V, The Boys Will Return in a Fourth Season

Not only will the world of The Boys expand in a spinoff, but the titular team of vigilantes is also due to return in an upcoming fourth season. While details remain largely unknown, showrunner Eric Kripke has described season 4 of The Boys as “character-driven.”

"We start shooting in late August. I'm starting to look at some early drafts of the first couple,” Kripke recently revealed. “We're still early, I think right now we're in the middle of breaking Episode 3 and I'm reading a draft of Episode 1. And even in that stage, it's early with some heavy rewriting and we're still in there figuring it all out. But it's super interesting and fun and really, really emotionally rich. Probably as emotionally complicated as we've ever done. So far, that's been my big takeaway. Everyone is really facing their core issues in a way that's pretty exciting, a very character-driven season."

Gen V does not yet have a release date but is expected to premiere in 2023. The Boys Season 3 is now available to stream in its entirety on Prime Video.
