A new teaser has been released for the live-action spinoff to Amazon's hit series The Boys, and with it comes the unveiling of the show's official title. The teaser presents several cast members who will be starring in main roles in the new series, which had been in development under the working title of The Boys: Varsity. As revealed in the teaser, which you can watch below, the spinoff, which spoofs the X-Men, has been officially titled as Gen V.

The teaser gives us a peek at cast members Jaz Sinclair, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Lizzie Broadway, Chance Perdomo, London Thor, Asa Germann, Maddie Phillips, and Derek Luh. They each speak about stoked they are to be involved with the show that has been labeled as Gen V.

"I'm so excited to be a part of this show, and I am so excited for you guys to watch it," Sinclair says.

"It's got everything The Boys has. The intensity, the grit, the humor," adds Germann.

Some of the other aspects teased in the spinoff series include "love and beautiful relationships," "tons of action and superheroes," and "lots of hormones, and drama, and mystery." Basically, it sounds like Gen V will include everything that makes its parent series so special while adding a new spin by focusing on younger superheroes still learning their powers, akin to Professor X training his X-Men in Marvel Comics.

"Superheroes, college... what could go wrong?" asks Thor.

Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters serve as the showrunners for Gen V. They also executive produce alongside The Boys TV series creator Eric Kripke, original comic series writer Garth Ennis, and Seth Rogen. Cast members not featured in the teaser video include Shelley Conn, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi.

Gen V Will Feature Crossovers from The Boys

While Gen V primarily focuses on a new cast of characters, we can expect there to be some crossover involved with the main series. Eric Kripke recently spoke about the spinoff in an interview with Deadline and confirmed that the show is set during the third season of The Boys. He also teased that season 3's events will be referenced at that there will be some crossovers involved, but he doesn't say which characters exactly will appear in Gen V.

"There’s definitely crossover, and we’re doing our best to design a universe that sees some of the issues and storylines in season 3 hand off to the first season in Varsity," Kripke said. "Like there’s a presidential campaign happening in the background of that season, and there’s certain things that are happening at that school that are both in reaction to season 3 of The Boys. There’s Soldier Boy, etcetera, but also some new storylines that are happening in that season of the spinoff that we have to pick up and take into season 4 of the show."

Gen V does not yet have a premiere date set at Prime Video. For now, you can find the first three seasons of The Boys on the streaming platform. That show has been renewed for season 4, but the fourth season doesn't yet have a premiere date.
