The discussion over who should play the next James Bond continues, and Liam Hemsworth has entered the chat. In 2021, Daniel Craig ended his run in the role after five films, putting the franchise producers back at the drawing board to recast the role once again. Fans have been offering plenty of different ideas for actors they think would do great as Bond, and now, a former Bond actor himself has come forth with a new suggestion. George Lazenby, who briefly took over as Bond from Sean Connery to star in 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service, has volunteered Liam Hemsworth.

Lazenby tells TMZ that Hemsworth deserves the job for several reasons, first arguing that the Hunger Games star has the acting resume worthy of the role along with the "experience to deal with all the media attention and scrutiny." At 32 years old, Hemsworth is also young enough to "churn out Bond films for the next decade, all while retaining his youthful good looks" just as Lazenby has, the actor jokes. Something else both actors have in common is that they're from the land down under, and because Australia is a British Commonwealth nation, Lazenby says Hemsworth, as a "good-looking Aussie dude," would keep the character's casting under the British crown.

Finally, and for what Lazenby says could be the most important factor, the next James Bond has to be "crazy enough, arrogant enough, confident enough, ambitious enough to take on the role." He notes that following Daniel Craig is a "tough act," just as it was for him to follow Sean Connery as Bond. But Lazenby feels Hemsworth ticks all of these boxes and would be perfect as the next 007.

There's No Shortage of Interested Actors Hoping to Play James Bond

Henry Cavill James Bond MovieWeb

Hemsworth is, of course, just one of many names who could potentially get the part. There's obviously no shortage of actors interested in nabbing the coveted role. One of the most popular names that has been suggested by fans is Henry Cavill, who was considered to be too young when he previously auditioned for the Daniel Craig version of the character. Cavill has also teased that he'd be open to having that discussion if producers were to give him that call.

"Whether I'm considered for the role or not, I don't know, but it would be fun to have the conversation for sure, and if I'm not then I just want to see what they do with it next because I think they're amazing," Cavill said.

Speaking of Cavill, Hemsworth, and popular roles getting recast, it's worth mentioning The Witcher. After the upcoming third season of the Netflix series, Cavill is departing the show from his role as Geralt of Rivia. Hemsworth will take over the role starting with season 4. This will certainly let fans know how Hemsworth does with taking over such a popular and established character, though by the time that season comes around, the role of James Bond will likely be cast by that point.
