State Street Pictures' George Tillman and Bob Teitel have picked up screen rights for the book "I Saw You: Comics Inspired by Real-Life Missed Connections," by Julia Wertz about missed romantic connections posted on Craigslist, according to Variety.

Tillman (Notorious) will direct and Teitel will produce a romantic comedy focused on turning around a missed opportunity to begin a life-changing relationship.

Teitel said there has been an explosion since 2000 in online ads that begin with "I Saw You ..." in which participants write of seeing someone alluring but are unable to summon the guts to connect with them. Craigslist turned the postings into a running section.

State Street will get a script and put together a package before going to studios and financiers.

"I'm fascinated with the concept of people who feel they missed something great because they didn't have the courage to speak up," Tillman said.

No production date has been set.
