Gerald R. Molen has picked up the rights to the sports drama novel, Playing With the Enemy: A Baseball Prodigy, a World at War, and a Field of Broken Dreams, through his WhiteLight Entertainment banner.

The book is based on author Gary Moore's father's experiences during World War II, says Variety. After being drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers as a 15-year-old prodigy in 1940, Gene Moore joined the Navy and was sent on a secret mission to guard German POWs during which he taught enemy soldiers how to play baseball.

Playing With the Enemy is set to start shooting in February.
