Steven Spielberg's upcoming movie The Fabelmans just announced its release date. The project will come to theaters close to Thanksgiving of next year. The Fabelmans, which is based on Spielberg's childhood, is expected to come to cinemas on November 23, 2022. Universal Pictures and Amblin is creating the motion picture.

There is a possibility for the film to be delayed. The movie could move its schedule if a big budget film changes its release date to be closer to the Steven Spielberg drama. If the title stays on schedule, it will arrive on the same day as a currently untitled Disney movie. Additionally, the project will come two weeks after the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Arizona, which is where Spielberg spent much of his younger years, serves as the setting for The Fabelmans. Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Paul Dano, and newcomer Gabriel Labelle star in the movie. Williams and Rogan are considered well known to most consumers. For those who don't know who Dano is, he appeared in the 2013 thriller Prisoners, and will play the Riddler in the upcoming superhero film The Batman. Details of the plot of The Fabelmans have been mostly kept secret. Something that is known is that The Fabelmans will dramatize the developmental experiences of a movie-lover who eventually became the most commercially successful director in modern times.

Williams and Dano will play characters similar to Spielberg's mom and dad. Rogan, on the other hand, is playing someone that resembles the filmmaker's favorite uncle. Making his big screen debut as the film's main lead is Labelle as an aspiring director named Sammy. Julia Butters, who had a breakthrough performance in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, will act as Sammy's sister, Anne. While the character names are different than the real life counterparts, the movie is clearly based on Spielberg's own experience as a child. He wanted to be a director when he was a kid. He eventually got his wish, having directed many of the greatest films of all time. Some of the previously mentioned films include Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, and E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.

Spielberg wrote the screenplay for The Fabelmans alongside a frequent co-worker, Angels in America playwright Tony Kushner. The duo recently worked together on the 2021 movie musical West Side Story. That particular project received widespread critical acclaim. Also, they collaborated on the historical action drama Munich, which centered around the Israeli government's revenge mission against those responsible for the 1972 Olympics terrorist attack. Another motion picture the two worked on was the 2012 biographical drama Lincoln, based on important moments in the career of the 16th president. Both of those big screen titles got extremely positive reviews. Given the pair's professional history, there is a strong chance for their upcoming project to receive similar accolades.

Along with writing and directing, Spielberg is producing the motion picture. Additional producers are Kushner and Kristie Macosko Krieger. Filming for The Fabelmans started in July. With the title being inspired by the young life of the director, it is sure to be one Spielberg's most personal projects.
