Ernie Hudson does not have a deal for Ghostbusters 2020 at this time. There have been rumors swirling for years about Hudson and the rest of the original cast coming back for a proper sequel and it looks like Jason Reitman may have written the script to do so.

While Hudson is confident in Reitman's abilities to satisfy long-time Ghostbusters fans, he has not officially signed on to the sequel. This comes after Sigourney Weaver announced she was returning with the rest of the gang. Ernie Hudson had this to say.

"I know they're doing (Ghostbusters 2020). I know Jason Reitman is going to direct it. He's an amazing filmmaker. I'd love to be a part of it. I don't have a deal yet, and I hope it works out. But no matter what, I know Jason's going to make a great movie."

It is entirely possible that Ernie Hudson is playing coy about his involvement in Ghostbusters 3 in an effort to keep things under wraps. In addition to Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts has also revealed she is returning for the sequel. Fans are hoping Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray will be starring in the movie too and it looks like they will be, but it hasn't been officially announced at this time. Aykroyd previously revealed that the script is "beautiful."

Jason Reitman recently revealed the original cast has read the script, but that is as far as he has gone in confirmation for Ghostbusters 3. Reitman also stated he will be using old, unused footage from the original movie, though he did not reveal how it will be used. Speculation obviously goes to including the late Harold Ramis in some form or fashion, which would be pretty awesome for fans.

Ernie Hudson is confident Jason Reitman will give the fans what they want with Ghostbusters 3. Hudson has had nothing but great things to say about the director and he is looking forward to seeing how everything pans out. Fans were not excited for the 2016 female-led reboot and Hudson acknowledged this in a recent interview. However, he believes the upcoming sequel is on an entirely different level when it comes to the Ghostbusters franchise.

Jason Reitman and crew are expected to begin production on Ghostbusters 2020 this summer. There is a lot of hype surrounding the sequel and fans are hoping that Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd are right about the script bringing the story in a new and great direction. We still have quite a while to wait and see, but we should start to see some pictures from the set within the next few weeks, which will hopefully have the original cast included. For now, we'll just have to wait and hope Ernie Hudson gets his deal signed and delivered. The interview with Hudson was originally conducted by Syracuse.
