In late January, it was officially announced that the new all-female Ghostbusters cast would be headlined by Melissa McCarthy and Saturday Night Live alum Kristen Wiig , along with current SNL cast mates Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Shooting doesn't begin until later this spring, but last night's Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special brought all four women together in one place at one time, with Leslie Jones tweeting a first look at this cast gathered together. If you wanted to know what the Ghostbusters remake cast was going to look like assembled, now we have a pretty good idea.
While all four women weren't spotted hanging out together with original Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, who were present last night at the reunion, Leslie Jones did manage to capture herself alongside the co-creator of this franchise, which you can see in the photos below. As of now, no original Ghostbusters cameos have been confirmed for the Paul Feig directed reboot. It has been rumored that Bill Murray is wanted as the main villain, referred to as a "professional ghost debunker" who tries to sabotage the ladies Ghostbusters operation. If Dan Aykroyd does return, there have been no specific character details revealed for him yet. It is known that none of the original characters will be included in the movie.
The Heat writer Katie Dippold is continuing to work on the final Ghostbusters script alongside Paul Feig. The director confirmed a short while ago that he and his cast will return to some of the iconic New York City locations to film this complete revision of the iconic 80s series. It will be a little while yet before we see these four ladies suited up. In the meantime, check out your new all-female Ghostbusters gathered for the first time in public:
