In July 2020, Juno and Young Adult director Jason Reitman will unleash his all-new Ghostbusters movie upon the masses. Today we have word via original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 actor Ernie Hudson aka Winston Zeddemore that Reitman is taking his Ghostbusters 2020 flick "to a whole other level" and that the Thank You For Smoking and Up in the Air filmmaker is "gonna give the fans what they've been looking for."

Ernie Hudson was recently at the Countdown City Geekcast at Celebrity Fan Fest and specifically said this.

"I'm glad that Jason Reitman, Ivan Reitman's son, is gonna be directing and producing this movie, and writing it. And he was a kid when we were doing the other movies, in fact, he's in the second movie, so I know there's a love for the movie. He's an amazing filmmaker, and I think he's gonna take it to a whole other level. So as we move into the future, I'm just really excited that he's gonna give the fans what they've been looking for."

Hudson then went on to say that unlike director Paul Feig's all-female Ghostbusters movie starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth - which I guess is now officially called Ghostbusters: Answer the Call - Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters 2020 will be "more in line with the original Ghostbusters." Hudson says this.

"I think the last movie with the ladies, it was a good movie and enjoyable, but it wasn't quite what a lot of the fans wanted. I think this will be more in line with the original Ghostbusters, so I'm excited about it."

Along with the return of Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore, Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters 2020 will allegedly see the return of Bill Murray as Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd as Raymond Stantz, Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz, and Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett, though none of them have been officially confirmed by Sony Pictures at this time. They will be joined by The Haunting of Hill House and Annabelle Comes Home breakout young star, Mckenna Grace, along with Stranger Things and Stephen King's IT star Finn Wolfhard, and Gone Girl and Fargo Season Three star Carrie Coon. Grace, Wolfhard, and Coon will play a family along with the recently announced addition of This Is 40 and Forgetting Sarah Marshall star Paul Rudd as a teacher.

Original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 director Ivan Reitman's son, Jason Reitman will be taking the helm of Ghostbusters 2020 from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Monster House and Poltergeist 2015 filmmaker Gil Kenan based on the original movie which was penned by Reitman, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis. Papa Reitman returns to produce this new adventure which will feature cinematography by Eric Steelberg. Columbia Pictures, The Montecito Picture Company, Right of Way Films, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Ghost Corps are the production companies behind this new Ghostbusters movie which Sony Pictures Releasing will unleash into a theater near you on July 10, 2020.
