As any fan of the original 1984 classic may know, today is Ghostbusters Day, when, 32 years ago, the first movie was released in theaters. Later on tonight, both the original cast and the all-female reboot cast will unite on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, but before that happens, Sony is celebrating this momentous occasion by releasing five new videos. The first gives us a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how the new Ecto-1 vehicle is introduced, along with four character vignettes showcasing the four main characters, Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones).

Director Paul Feig explains that, out of all the iconic elements from the original movie they wanted to bring back for their reboot, the Ecto-1 was at the top of their list. We also see footage from the movie that reveals how these Ghostbusters acquired this vehicle, with Patty Tolan borrowing a hearse from her uncle, who owns a funeral parlor. We also get plenty of behind-the-scenes footage with the cast members expressing their approval of this new Ecto-1.

The character vignettes offer plenty of new details about the main Ghostbusters, including how Abby went ahead and published the book she co-wrote with Erin, without her permission. After Erin goes to ask Abby to take down the book, she goes on a call and actually sees that ghosts are real, which leads to the formation of these new Ghostbusters. Melissa McCarthy reveals that her character Abby has always been a believer in the paranormal. Kate McKinnon adds that her character Jillian Holtzmann is the engineer of the group, a genius who built all of the Ghostbusters' equipment. The final vignette reveals that Patty becomes the last member of the group after she sees a ghost herself, and her knowledge of New York becomes invaluable to the group.

Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today. This summer, they're here to save the world! The new Ghostbusters are Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Chris Hemsworth leads the supporting cast, playing the Ghostbusters' new secretary Kevin.

Original Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson have all been confirmed for cameo appearances, though we don't get to see any of them in this latest footage. This new Ghostbusters adventure will go up against Broad Green Pictures' The Infiltrator. Ghostbusters is produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal, and written by Katie Dippold & Paul Feig, based on the 1984 film Ghostbusters, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and directed by Ivan Reitman. The supporting cast includes Andy Garcia as the mayor of New York City, Michael K. Williams as Hawkins, Matt Walsh as Rourke, Pat Kiernan as a news anchor and Neil Casey as the human villain Rowan.
