Production on Sony Pictures' Ghostbusters reboot is still under way in Boston, and according to a new report from the Boston Herald, the highly-anticipated reboot may have added a high-profile new cast member for a cameo role. Director Paul Feig has reportedly brought on heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne for scenes involving a rock concert. Paul Feig has been posting photos from the set ever since production started earlier this summer, but he has yet to confirm Ozzy Osbourne's presence quite yet.
The scenes in question were shot at Boston's Citi Wang Theater, which is actually just across the street from the Boston hospital that stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon visited in costume last week. The theater was transformed into the Stonebrook Theatre for an event dubbed "Rock Revenge Fest featuring Ozzy Osbourne," which was part of a "12 Hour Marathon of Metal." The Boston Herald's "spies" overheard several crew members talking about Ozzy Osbourne outside of the arena.
Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon were all said to be filming the scene inside this arena, but it isn't clear how these Ghostbusters end up at the rock concert. Plot details have been hard to come by since production began, but one rumor claims that, years ago, Kristen Wiig's Erin Gilbert wrote a book with Melissa McCarthy's Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), which revealed that ghosts are real. Erin loses her teaching job at Columbia University once word of her book surfaces, and she reteams with Abby and her new partner, Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones).
The supporting cast includes Chris Hemsworth as the Ghostbusters' secretary and Andy Garcia as the Mayor of New York City, alongside Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, Pat Kiernan and Neil Casey. Original Ghostbusters stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray are also set to appear in this reboot. Dan Aykroyd is reportedly playing a New York City cab driver who picks up Kristen Wiig's character, and Bill Murray is reportedly playing a character who is trying to debunk the Ghostbusters' claims.
Ozzy Osbourne's last movie appearance was as the voice of Fawn in the 2011 animated comedy Gnomeo and Juliet. He also voiced The Green Fairy in Moulin Rouge, appeared as himself in Little Nicky and played a band manager in The Jerky Boys. Are you looking forward to Ozzy Osbourne's appearance in Ghostbusters?
