Whoopi Goldberg's recent controversy has many recalling what happened with Gina Carano and The Mandalorian, along with how each of the two dealt with very different consequences. At the start of the week, Goldberg had remarked on The View that the Holocaust was "not about race," prompting an outcry against her. While Goldberg apologized on social media and on the program, ABC announced that she would also be suspended for two weeks.

Lucasfilm took a different approach when Carano came under fire for social media posts, including sharing a meme comparing being a modern conservative in the United States to being treated like Jews during the Holocaust. It was publicly announced that Lucasfilm was severing their relationship with Carano after social media backlash mounted against the actress, firing her from her role as Cara Dune on The Mandalorian.

Because ABC is owned by Disney, Carano's name has been trending online with her fans comparing the situations. Carano herself has also gotten involved with some official comments. First, she wrote a simple tweet that stated, "Two weeks to slow the double standards."

"I want to send blessings & love out to the Jewish community," Carano says in a follow-up tweet. "When I was being smeared, cancelled & misunderstood, it was a Jewish man Ben Shapiro who reached out & asked if I’d like to talk about it. Maybe Whoopi Goldberg could talk to Ben. Conversation over cancellation."

Gina Carano Announces Movie Project for Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire
Disney

Ben Shapiro quickly approached Gina Carano to collaborate on new movies made with The Daily Wire after her firing from The Mandalorian. One project she has under her sleeve is the upcoming Western movie Terror on the Prairie. Carano will also produce and star in a road thriller White Knuckle that's been described as a more modern version of Breakdown.

It has also been reported that Carano will star in the unauthorized Hunter Biden biopic My Son Hunter. Directed by Robert Davi, the film delves into the allegedly scandalous lifestyle of Biden with Carano starring as one of his Secret Service agents. Laurence Fox (Lewis) will play Hunter with John James (Dynasty) as father Joe.

"The story, the cast, the crew, the people, this is what makes art great and this is what we're doing," Carano said of her casting on that movie, per Deadline. "I feel excited to be working with incredible actors, a visionary director and some newfound friends as producers. The script was instantly intriguing and side achingly hilarious to me, especially after being newly exposed to the political realm in 2020."
