The heartfelt and witty Netflix hit Ginny & Georgia is back for season two, and it's not too late to catch up. With only 10 hour-long episodes in season one, that's an easy weekend binge. But what's so great about it? It's a family-friendly show that follows a mother, Georgia, and her two kids, Ginny and Austin, as they try to settle down in a cozy New England town after all of Ginny and Austin's life has been spent running.

Georgia is played by Brianne Howey, Ginny by Antonia Gentry, and Austin by Diesel La Torraca. Ginny is mature for her age and Georgia is a little immature for her own. Ginny & Georgia follows the struggles of growing up, parenting, and how complicated mother-daughter relationships are. While it may seem like a typical feel-good TV show, Georgia's past is full of dark secrets; though she feels like she's finally outrun them, she couldn't be more wrong. Her secrets are coming out one way or another.

This show performed well on Netflix upon release. Within the first month of release, 52 million people watched Ginny and Georgia and in that same time frame, it was watched for a collective of 381 million hours around the world. It also stuck around in Netflix's top 10 for a while.

Spoiler alert: season one

After her husband mysteriously dies of a heart attack, Georgia and her kids move to the idyllic town of Wellsbury in New England for a fresh start. However, after a lifetime of moving constantly, Ginny and Austin wouldn't know how to settle into a home if it fell from the sky and landed on them. As Georgia promises them they are going to stick around, Ginny branches out and finally starts to have authentic teenage experiences like friends and fights, boys, and even parties. Despite making up for lost teenage years, she can't help but shake the feeling there is something suspicious about her mom.

This, among a lifetime of friction, creates a tough dynamic between Ginny and her mom. Georgia had Ginny when she was 15, and has spent her life marrying for liabilities and survival. While she may seem like a fun young mom, she is a fighter and is very troubled. Her own wild streak makes her a bit overprotective of Ginny which she, of course, resents because like most teenage girls she believes she is nothing like her mom.

Tensions build throughout the first season, and the season ends on quite the cliffhanger. Ginny finds out that her mom had a hand in the death of her last husband because he was sexually harassing Ginny. Georgia herself was sexually harassed growing up, and she wanted to end that cycle, because all she wants is a better life for her kids. At the end of the season, Ginny runs away on a bike with her younger brother after burning the house, which shows that some cycles are unbreakable. Just like her mom, she runs away from home and is planning on sacrificing her future to support a child.

What's Exciting About Ginny & Georgia Season Two?

Hopefully, the second season picks up with Ginny and Austin still on the run and viewers get to see the struggles of a young girl and child on their own. For the season to work, they will eventually have to go home and face their mother, if there's even a home to go back to. This season, Georgia might have to face consequences for all the selfless but wrong things she has done to survive. The reveal of Georgia's crimes will surely have an impact on her engagement with the mayor.

Along with the big reveals, in the next season, it would be great to see Ginny reunite with her estranged friends and maybe even have a boyfriend. Hopefully, now that the truth is out, Ginny and Austin can have a little bit of normalcy in their lives next season.

There is also a very lovable character that season two will be bringing back into viewers' homes. That character is none other than Joe (Raymond Ablack) who owns Blue Farm Café and has a burning crush on Georgia. It was revealed in season one that he also met Georgia once as a teenager, and it left quite an impact. He met her at a rest stop while she was running away and shared a sandwich with her. While that may not seem like much, he was very emotional when he realized their connection. It is also possible that if he confessed his realization to Georgia, there could be a possibility of romance between them; that is, if Georgia doesn't go to jail.
