The first trailer for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery reunites us with Daniel Craig as super sleuth Detective Benoit Blanc as he is once again faced with discovering which A-lister is a no-good murderer. Rather than hit theaters, this time the Knives Out sequel will debut on Netflix, with Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery amassing a cast so stellar that it may even rival its predecessor. You can check out the teaser for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery below.

Directed by Rian Johnson, you’re invited to put the pieces together once again in the follow-up to Knives Out. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery finds the brilliant Benoit Blanc on the trail of another killer when tech billionaire Miles Bron invites his friends for a getaway on his private Greek island. When someone turns up dead, Detective Benoit Blanc is put on the case, slowly peeling back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects.

Much like its 2019 predecessor, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will bring together a ludicrously star-studded cast. Alongside Daniel Craig, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery finds Edward Norton as Miles Bron, a tech billionaire who invites his friends for "murder-mystery game that gets a little too real;” Janelle Monáe as Cassandra "Andi" Brand, a tech entrepreneur; Kathryn Hahn as Claire Debella, a Connecticut governor running for Senate; Leslie Odom Jr. as Lionel Toussaint, a scientist who works for Miles; Jessica Henwick as Peg, Birdie's assistant; Madelyn Cline as Whiskey, Duke's younger girlfriend and channel assistant; Kate Hudson as Birdie Jay, a fashion designer; and Dave Bautista as Duke Cody, a YouTube star.

While these character details have now been revealed, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding Ethan Hawke’s role in proceedings, with many speculating that he could be the murder victim.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Will Delve More Into What Makes Benoit Blanc Tick

Not only will Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery present us with both an intriguing murder mystery and a stellar cast of characters, the Knives Out follow-up will also delve more into what makes Detective Benoit Blanc tick, director Rian Johnson has teased.

“You definitely get to know him a little bit better,” the filmmaker revealed recently. “In the first one, because of the way it was structured, Marta, Ana de Armas’ character, was very much the protagonist. In a big way, Blanc was the threat. He was almost the antagonist in terms of just the story structure, because you were worried, even as they got closer, that he was going to catch her and he was going to have to turn her over at the end. So Blanc was always outside of the sphere of our protagonist and was a little bit more of an enigma in the first movie. Whereas, in this one, Blanc gets an invitation to come to this murder mystery on this island. We’re very much meeting these people and getting into this world through his eyes.”

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is due to have its world premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2022. The whodunnit sequel will then be released in select cinemas during November 2022, before its streaming release on December 23, 2022, by Netflix.
