A former Glee star is being rocked by scandal today, as actor and singer Mark Salling was arrested for suspicion of possessing child pornography. The 33 year-old, who is best known as brash high school football player Noah "Puck" Puckerman on the Fox musical comedy series, was taken into custody on Tuesday, December 29 by the Los Angeles Police Department in the Sunland Neighborhood where he lives.

The actor was brought to a downtown Los Angeles jail after officers served a search warrant for Internet possession of child pornography. LAPD spokeswoman Liliana Preciado says she has no further information on the case. It is being turned over to prosecutors to decided whether formal charges will be brought against the actor. TMZ reports that Los Angeles Police Department's Crimes Against Children Task Force searched Mark Salling's personal home computer and found 100s of illegal images. This has not been confirmed by any law enforcement officials.

TMZ's sources claim that the LAPD were tipped off about Mark Salling's collection of illegal child pornography by the actor's ex-girlfriend. The Task Force is said to have investigated the claims thoroughly before obtaining their warrant. They needed to make sure this wasn't a case of revenge. While Mark Salling has been arrested, he hasn't been formally charged or found guilty, so everything is currently resting at the allegation stage.

Mark Salling has kept out of the spotlight since he wrapped up his recurring role on the now canceled Glee earlier this year. While he was a main cast member in the first few seasons, he became a side player leading up to the end of the musical's 6 season run on Fox. The actor appeared on 98 of the show's 121 episodes. And he remained one of the more popular characters all throughout the series run.

In 2010, Mark Salling was able to channel some of his success from Glee in successfully launching his own record label, releasing his first solo album that same year, entitled Pipe Dreams. The man is no stranger to legal troubles. In 2013, he was sued by his ex-girlfriend Roxanne Gorzela for sexual battery over a 2011 incident where she claims he forced unprotected sex on her. It is not known if Gorzela is the same ex-girlfriend that turned him into police on suspicion of Child pornography. In that case, the woman claims Mark Salling pushed her to the ground, injuring her knees, when she confronted him about the incident. The case was settle in the middle of the trail. At that time, the actor admitted negligence in Gorzela's fall, and the claim was dropped.

Even though Mark Salling has not been found guilty, his name may forever be tarnished by the mere allegations that he was in possession of child pornography. It's certainly one of the worse offenses a person can be accused of and carries a stigma that is hard to shake. If he is formally charged and found guilty, it will tarnish the reputation of Glee's legacy. And some people will certainly have a problem ever revisiting the show without thinking about these charges. What do you think about all this? Sound off in the comment section below.
