Producer J.J. Abrams has tapped filmmaker Julius Onah to direct God Particle for Paramount Insurge. We first reported on this project back in June, when Paramount acquired the screenplay by Oren Uziel (The Kitchen Sink).
The story centers on a team of American astronauts aboard a space station who are left stranded when the Earth vanishes into thin air, after a mishap with a Hadron particle accelerator. While they try to determine a course of action, they discover a European spacecraft on their radar.
J.J. Abrams will produce through his Bad Robot Productions company. The project will be shot on a budget between $5 million and $10 million. No production schedule was given.
The project will mark the first major feature for Julius Onah, who is best known for short films such as Big Man and The Girl Is In Trouble.
