In honor of Chinese New Year, we've got a brand new series of character posters for Godzilla: King of the Monsters to check out. Chinese New Year officially kicked off on February 5 and Warner Bros. decided to celebrate Kaiju style by releasing a stylish and stunning new poster for each one of the main monsters set to appear in the upcoming sequel. Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah and the main man himself are all highlighted and they all look absolutely fantastic. And perhaps deceptively beautiful, considering how deadly they all can be.

The Chinese New Year posters are all done in the style of Chinese animation, with the respective poster's monster at its center. They're each surrounded by various objects that help celebrate the culture, making them very distinctive and extremely slick. Done in this style, it's almost hard to think that these four are going to have one of the largest big screen brawls of 2019, as they don't look terribly threatening. They do, however, look excellent and this pours even more fuel on an already thoroughly raging hype fire for this movie.

We last saw this new version of Godzilla back when Gareth Edwards' 2014 movie was released. In part, it helped to atone for the sins of the previous American Godzilla movie from 1998. But, it also served to frustrate many fans of the legendary monster. Edwards chose to subvert most of the action, instead, opting to showcase the carnage from a human POV. While some appreciated the approach, others just want to see monsters duking it out. That's understandable and this sequel is going to deliver the goods on that front.

This time around, it's Michael Dougherty (Krampus) in the director's chair and he's already promised that the monsters are going to be the main feature of his movie. Not only that, but it's classic Toho creatures at the center of the action this time, as opposed to new creations. So those who perhaps didn't appreciate what was attempted in the previous outing need not be concerned. Even though it's clearly about the monsters, they didn't skimp on the talent when it comes to the human cast either. Vera Farmiga and Ken Watanabe return from the first movie. Beyond that, it's an all-new cast that includes Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, Ziyi Zhang and O'Shea Jackson Jr.

Warner Bros. is also in production on Godzilla vs. Kong, directed by Adam Wingard (Blair Witch) which will serve as the follow-up to this movie and is set to hit theaters next year. It will pit Godzilla against the new version of King Kong from Kong: Skull Island in a winner-take-all grudge match. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is set to hit theaters on May 31.
