Director Gareth Edwards is getting ready to start shooting Godzilla later this month in Vancouver, confirming a report from December about when production would begin.

More than 300 crew members will converge on the Harbour City for an eight-day shoot that will take place in areas such as Old Victoria Road in Nanaimo, Ladysmith, and Shawnigan Lake. The production has pledged to use local extras and equipment, which will pump in an estimated $100,000 a day to the local economy. Filming is about to begin very shortly on Old Victoria road, before moving on to Ladysmith and Shawnigan Lake. Man of Steel used the area's Cassidy Hotel during a shoot in 2011.

Gareth Edwards is directing from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, Drew Pearce, and Frank Darabont. It isn't known where the production will shift to after this month's eight-day shoot wraps.
