The title for the upcoming monster mash sequel, Godzilla vs. Kong 2, has seemingly been revealed courtesy of several production gifts. Images of which have now made their way online. Thus, the sequel to last year’s blockbuster movie will be titled simply...wait for it...Godzilla and Kong. The title suggests that the movie will once again feature both the legendary titans Godzilla and King Kong, only this time, they will not be at each other’s throats.

While there had been rumors that Godzilla vs. Kong 2 would contain the words “Son of Kong” in there somewhere, the studio has instead gone for something much simpler. This title reveal comes following the recent revelation that the working title for Godzilla and Kong was Origins. Which, much like the newly revealed official title, we can also garner some clues. So, it sounds like Godzilla and Kong will find the two monsters once again working together, much like they did during the Godzilla vs. Kong finale, with the plot delving into the backstories of both characters.

Godzilla and Kong will follow up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong “with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own,” the official outline for Godzilla vs. Kong 2 reads. “The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever."

Set to be once again helmed by Gozilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard, Godzilla and Kong will be the fifth installment in Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse. The sequel will see Wingard reunite with The Guest star Dan Stevens, who will take over as the movie’s lead. Stevens will be joined by several familiar faces from the MonsterVerse, including Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, Kaylee Hottle as Jia, with Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, and Rachel House due to join the fray.

Not only will Godzilla return to the big screen in Godzilla and Kong, the iconic kaiju will also lead a standalone adventure courtesy of Toho Studios. The studio recently took to social media to announce the mysterious project, and while details remain under wraps at present, it has been revealed that the new Godzilla outing will be helmed by director Takashi Yamazaki, who is best known for Always: Sunset on Third Street and the more recent offerings Stand by Me Doraemon 2 and Dragon Quest: Your Story.

If that were not already enough monster mayhem, the MonsterVerse is also due to take over the small screen in Godzilla and the Titans. Led by father-son duo Kurt and Wyatt Russell, the series will pick up “following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”

Godzilla and Kong is scheduled to be released on March 15, 2024.
