Samuel Goldwyn Films has recently acquired Fugitive Pieces, a World War II drama and festival favorite.

The film premiered on opening night of the Toronto International Film Festival and lead actor Rade Sherbedgia picked up the Best Actor prize at the Rome International Film Festival.

Goldwyn has slated the film for a U.S. premiere on February 2 at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, with plans to launch theatrically in May.

The film, based on the novel by Ann Michaels, was written and directed by TV vet Jeremy Podeswa (Dexter, Six Feet Under) and deals with a Polish orphan who is rescued by a Greek archeaologist, and copes with his tragedies through writing and discovering love.
