According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gong Li has signed on to Michael Mann's Miami Vice for Universal Pictures.
Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx are respectively starring as Detectives Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs in the big-screen adaptation of the 1980s NBC series.
Mann, who executive produced the TV show, is writing, directing and producing the feature. The actress will play Isabella, the Chinese-Cuban wife of the leader of a transnational crime syndicate and Crockett's love interest.
Also, Variety says that Li will She will then play Lady Murasaki, the Japanese woman who teaches cultural sophistication to a young Hannibal Lecter in Behind the Mask, the Peter Webber-directed fifth installment of the Lecter franchise scripted byThe Silence of the Lambs author Thomas Harris.
Mask will start production in September in Prague.
Gong (Farewell My Concubine, Raise the Red Lantern) has already wrapped two films generated in the U.S.: the anthology pic Eros and the Rob Marshall-directed Memoirs of a Geisha for Sony.
