The Good Dinosaur asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo (voice of Raymond Ochoa) makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.
Directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream, Disney•Pixar's The Good Dinosaur opens in theaters on Nov. 25, 2015. Peter Sohn made his directorial debut with the Pixar short film Partly Cloudy. He has worked in the art, story and animation departments, and also has voiced the characters of Emile from Academy Award-winning Ratatouille and Scott "Squishy" Squibbles from Monsters University.
Denise Ream produced the Golden Globe-nominated film Cars 2 for Pixar Animation Studios, and served as associate producer for Disney•Pixar's Academy Award-winning film Up She also has an extensive background in producing visual effects and animation for live action films. This helped add a distinct look and flavor to The Good Dinosaur that sets it apart from other films in the Disney Pixar library. And it will be remembered as another unique classic.
The Good Dinosaur boasts a stellar voice cast that will also include Jeffrey Wright, Steve Zahn, A.J. Buckley, Anna Paquin, Sam Elliott, Frances McDormand, Marcus Scribner, and Jack Bright. One of the reasons it's taken longer than usually to hear the characters speak is because Pixar did a complete overhaul on the cast. This past June, it was announced by Disney and Pixar that The Good Dinosaur was getting a whole new set of voices after going through major reshoots. The story was improved upon, but actors Judy Greer (Ivy), Neil Patrick Harris (Cliff), Bill Hader (Forrest), John Lithgow (Poppa), Lucas Neff (Arlo) and Adam Stedman (Baby Lola) all abandoned the project as the film was delayed a year. The film also lost original director Bob Peterson. Frances McDormand is the only voice cast member that remains from the original group, portraying Momma.
The Good Dinosaur is Pixar's 16th feature film, and follows this summer's smash hit Inside Out, which is the third highest grossing film of the year. So far, it has taken in over $353 million at the domestic box office, and over $792 million worldwide. Will The Good Dinosaur be able to draw in those same type of numbers? We'll have to wait and see. But to help entice audiences, and familiarize them with Arlo and his adventure, Disney Pixar have released a brand new trailer and several new photos. We even get a Spanish language trailer. Check it all out, then make your Dinosaur plans for this Thanksgiving!
