Amblin Entertainment is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of two of its biggest hits of all time. These are movies that went onto have a long shelf life, and are both adored by fans. But it seems that the Back to The Future 30th Anniversary celebration has dwarfed The Goonies. That movie is getting released back into theaters, will have a special edition Blu-ray, and a ton of other collectibles that are hitting store shelves this October. But The Goonies isn't being completely left out in the cold. Amazon has something very cool planned, and its something collectors are definitely going to want to get their hands on.
Amazon has started pressing and producing its own line of vinyl records under the Amazon label. And on October 9th, they are releasing 5 vinyl soundtracks to some of the 80s most beloved movies. Including The Goonies, which is getting a special 30th Anniversary release. You can even pre-order The Goonies soundtrack right now for the low price of $24.99. Hurry and click HERE.
The other releases Amazon has planned includes a vinyl soundtrack for the hit 1987 classic Dirty Dancing. The Dirty Dancing album spent 18 weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 album sales charts and went platinum eleven times, selling more than 32 million copies worldwide way back in 1987. While it was originally released on vinyl, it has since become a collector's item. You can pre-order the release here. The soundtrack to the 1986 Tom Cruise classic Top Gun is also part of this line-up. It is one of the most popular soundtracks to date, reaching 9× Platinum certification and #1 on the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart for five nonconsecutive weeks in the summer and fall of 1986. You can order Amazon's vinyl exclusive here.
Possibly even bigger than the Top Gun and Dirty Dancing soundtracks combine is the soundtrack to 1984's Footloose, which will also be included in this line-up. You can order the Amazon Exclusive Vinyl here. The final release in this collection sure to excite 80s nostalgia enthusiasts is the soundtrack for 1985's Rocky IV. It has the distinction of being the only Rocky soundtrack that does not feature music by Bill Conti, with a score that was composed by Vince DiCola. It was most notorious for unleashing the James Brown classic 'Living in America', but it never did quite stay within the social consciousness the way Rocky III's Eye of The Tiger has after all these years. You can order it here. It, too, is a 30th Anniversary collector's edition.
There isn't too much more information released on any of these vinyl soundtracks, and we don't get a track listing. Right now, it isn't known if The Goonies soundtrack will be the score by Dave Grusin or if it will contain all the songs we known and love from the movie. Of course, Cyndi Lauper's "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" is the most remembered single. But the soundtrack also contains songs from The Bangles, Teena Marie, REO Speedwagon and Luther Vandross. It even contains a second, lesser known Cyndi Lauper track "What a Thrill". The 2008 re-release contained two bonus songs, a vocal remix of Goon Squad's "Eight Arms to Hold You" and a Dance Remix of "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough". "Fratelli Chase" by Dave Grusin was omitted from the soundtrack to make room for more songs. Perhaps it will show up on this new re-release. We'll have to wait until closer to October 9th to now for sure. So, who's already clicked the pre-order button? We've thrown in the original Cyndi Lauper to help you get pumped for this excited re-release!
