Unofficially announced back in September of last year before Goosebumps hit theaters, it has now been confirmed by Sony Pictures that Goosebumps 2 is moving forward. There is no start date or release date in place yet. Nor has the story been revealed for this follow-up.

Jack Black, who played real-life author R.L. Stein in the first Goosebumps movie, is expected to return for this next spooky adventure. He has not officially signed on at the moment. EW has confirmed that original director Rob Letterman is in talks to return. As is his original writer Darren Lemke.

Goosebumps producers Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz are also set to return. The first chapter in this horror-comedy hybrid took in $80 million domestic and $76.6 million overseas for a worldwide box office total of $156.6 million off of a $58 million budget. The movie also fared well with critics, and currently has a 77% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Rob Letterman got his start in animation, making his directorial debut with DreamWorks Animations Shark Tale, followed by the studio's Monsters Vs. Aliens. His first live-action movie was a remake of Gulliver's Travels, which also starred Jack Black. Writer Darren Lemke also has a background in animation, writing the 4th movie in the Shrek franchise titled Shrek Forever After. He also penned the screenplay for the animated snail racing comedy Turbo. His first foray into live-action was the script for Jack the Giant Slayer. He is also writing the Shazam! script for DC Comics and Warner Bros.

In the first Goosebumps movie, young Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) is upset about moving from the big city to a small town. But he finds a silver lining when he meets his beautiful neighbor Hannah (Odeya Rush). The teen is surprised to learn that Hannah's mysterious father is R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the famous author of the best-selling Goosebumps book series. When Zach accidentally unleashes the monsters from the fantastic tales, it's up to Stine, his daughter and Cooper to return the beasts back to the books where they belong. It is not yet known at this time if other original cast members such as Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush will also be back.
