Another iconic DC Comics villain is heading to Gotham in Season 2. TV Line is reporting that House of Cards star Nathan Darrow has signed on to play Victor Fries, the future Mr. Freeze in the Fox crime drama. The actor will have a recurring role as Fries, and you can take a look at the official character description below.

"Though ferociously smart and eminently capable in his work as one of Gotham's preeminent cryogenics engineers, Victor struggles to make meaningful connections with others. The one exception is his wife, Nora (casting TBA), who has tragically fallen ill with a terminal disease. Victor's love for Nora knows no bounds, so as her condition worsens, he goes to extreme measures to figure out a way to freeze her before she dies. This harrowing journey leads to his transformation into the legendary DC villain, Mr. Freeze."

Executive producer John Stephens revealed at the WonderCon convention in April that they will introduce DC Comics villains such as Mr. Freeze, Clayface and the Mad Hatter in Gotham Season 2. This is the first character to be cast in that group, who will debut in the November 30 episode. It remains to be seen when Victor's wife Nora will be cast, but John Stephens revealed to TV Line that the villain will also return in the 12th and 13th episode of this season.

"The first time we see Freeze is in [the Nov. 30 episode], and then we're going to be telling a heavy Freeze story in Episodes 12 and 13."

Nathan Darrow joins other new characters this season such as Michael Chiklis' Captain Barnes, James Frain's Theo Galivan and Jessica Lucas' Tabitha Galivan, a.k.a. Tigress. More recently, Raúl Castillo has signed on to play the villainous Eduardo Flamingo in the ninth episode of this season, and it was revealed at New York Comic Con that Paul Reubens has come aboard to play Penguin's father. It wasn't revealed when he will make his debut, but star Robin Taylor teased that he will be seen very soon.

Nathan Darrow is best known for playing Meechum, the longtime bodyguard and occasional lover of Kevin Spacey's Frank Underwood in Netflix's House of Cards. He will next be seen in the upcoming Showtime series Billions and the HBO movie The Wizard of Lies, where he plays the son of Bernie Madoff, portrayed by Robert De Niro. Are you looking forward to the future Mr. Freeze terrorizing Gotham this season?
