Just a few days after the extended UK trailer, Fox has unleashed a three-part, 18-minute special for the highly-anticipated series Gotham. Series creator Bruno Heller explains that the show was born out of his desire to find a "fresh way into the DC mythology," while Danny Cannon, who directed the pilot episode, reveals that the series explores why this city will eventually need a vigilante like Batman to emerge.

We also hear from stars Ben McKenzie (James Gordon), who teases the Joker's inclusion in the series, Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), Robin Taylor (The Penguin), Jada Pinkett Smith (Fish Mooney) and many more from this highly-anticipated series, debuting Monday, September 22 at 8 PM ET on Fox.
