Grant Gustin is reportedly in negotiations to finalize his contract with The CW for The Flash season 9, which would almost certainly bring the ninth season to the CW.

Since the show launched in 2014, Gustin has played The Flash/Barry Allen. The show was part of DC Arrowverse on the CW and was created by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns. The series also stars Candice Patton, Jessie L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Jordan Fisher, Danielle Panabaker, and Kayla Compton.

It now looks like Gustin is set to reprise the role for The Flash season 9, as he is said to be currently finalizing negotiations for his return. This would make The Flash the longest-running in CW's Arrowverse. Arrow finished its run after season 8. It is said that Gustin's contract for The Flash season 9 is to end at 15 episodes and for one year, making it a shorter run and potentially the last for the actor. Currently, Gustin's per-episode salary is believed to be over $200,000, and this new deal would see him receive a much more significant increase for his return.

However, some fans were hoping for a multi-year deal. This current one-season deal, though, does seem to fit with Gustin's overall attitude toward his personal & professional life, which he has spoken about in interviews and on social media. It seems he does not want to be locked in to more than one season and to take things on a season-by-season basis. That being the case, this could be the final season for The Flash, unless, of course, they can work in some cross-over events or another season. For now, anyway, it looks like season 9 is on deck and that is a good thing for many.

The Flash is Headed to the Big Screen

Michael Keaton to Return as Batman in DC's The Flash Movie

The Flash is not only appearing on the small screen but will return in a solo film set to hit theaters on November 4th, 2022. Ezra Miller will play Barry Allen's version of The Flash in the DCEU, the first time we've seen him in action since The Justice League. The film is bringing in a lot of characters, such as Ben Affleck's Batman and the return of Micheal Keaton as the caped crusader. The new film is directed by Andy Muschietti, and although the movie is in no way connected to the series, it certainly is another great bonus to have for all fans.

As of now, we currently don't have any release date on The Flash season 9 as the contract negotiations are only now being finalized with terms and details. You can stream The Flash along with Arrow on Netflix right now as well as the CW's Supergirl.
