In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Gravity Films has set Katherine Brooks to direct Freak.

This film is based on the life of jockey Julie Krone.

Brooks adapted the screenplay from Krone's autobiography, "Riding for My Life." It details her journey "as the only woman to have won a Triple Crown race (the 1993 Belmont Stakes) and be inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame." Krone holds the title as the most successful female jockey in history. She has almost four thousand career wins and she made over $90 million in purse earnings.

"Julie is a freak of nature, and although I admire her accomplishments in racing, it is her personal triumphs that drew me to the project," stated Brooks. "I can't relate to winning a Triple Crown race, but I can relate to fighting for an impossible dream."
