Warner Bros. is teaming up with Gravity screenwriter Jonás Cuarón for The Lost City, which centers on the mythical city of Atlantis.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project is said to approach the fabled underwater city from a completely different angle. The writer was always the studio's top choice to draft the screenplay, although scheduling issues had to be worked out with his directorial debut, Desierto, which stars Gael García Bernal and starts shooting next year.

No director has been attached yet, but the project is such a high priority at the studio that Peter Jackson considered taking on the project, although that scenario never came to fruition.

Akiva Goldsman is producing through his Weed Road Productions company, alongside Safehouse Pictures' Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold.
