Grease will soon return to AMC theaters, honoring the late Olivia Newton-John. The iconic 1978 musical will make its way to the big screen once again on Friday, playing in 135 theaters across the country. The price of tickets will be $5, with $1 from each sale being donated to AMC's charitable fund AMC cares and the proceeds going to breast cancer research.

Newton-John played Sandy in the film, starring alongside John Travolta, Stockard Channing, Jeff Conaway, Didi Conn, Barry Pearl, and Michael Tucci. The actor tragically passed away on Aug. 8 at the age of 73. The cause of death is believed to be cancer, which she announced had returned in 2017, although the official reason has not been released. Adam Aron, CEO of AMC, announced the rerelease via his Twitter account.

"To honor the late Olivia Newton-John: many of our U.S. theaters this weekend will show her classic 1978 hit movie Grease, again on the big screen. An inexpensive $5 admission price, and through our charity AMC Cares we will donate $1 per sold ticket to breast cancer research."

The 1978 hit, Grease, was the highest-grossing film of that year, a true testament to the popularity of the iconic musical. Songs like You're the One That I Want, Summer Nights, and Hopelessly Devoted to You were big-time hits as part of the film, with the latter receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. The movie ended its box office run with a global gross of $396 million, a massive success.

Following the passing of Olivia Newton-John, co-stars and other workers in the film industry reached out to share their praise for the star. Fellow Grease star John Travolta, who played Danny Zuko in the movie, released a heartfelt message via Instagram following her death. 'My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!'
