Matt Damon may be trying to give his best friend Ben Affleck a run for his money in a new poster from The Great Wall, which shows that, even though Ben Affleck is Batman, Damon can take to the skies as well. Of course, Matt Damon isn't playing a superhero in The Great Wall, but he sure does look like one, flying through the air during battle in this new poster. Legendary released the first trailer back in July, but this poster could mean that another trailer could be coming soon.

Starring global superstar Matt Damon and directed by one of the most breathtaking visual stylists of our time, Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers), Legendary's The Great Wall tells the story of an elite force making a valiant stand for humanity on the world's most iconic structure. The first English-language production for Yimou is the largest film ever shot entirely in China. In this story, the Chinese are not only building the Wall to keep out invading Mongolian forces, but also to keep supernatural creatures at bay.

Matt Damon leads a cast that also includes Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe and a slew of Chinese stars. Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs, House of Flying Daggers), Tian Jing (New Police Story, Special ID), Hanyu Zhang (Taking Tiger Mountain, The Assembly), Eddie Peng (Fleet of Time, Rise of the Legend), Lu Han (Miss Granny), Gengxin Lin (Taking Tiger Mountain, Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon), Zheng Kai (Fleet of Time, The Running Man), Chen Xuedong (Tiny Times 3), Xuan Huang (The Golden Era, Blind Massage) and pop star Wang Junkai round out the supporting cast. The movie has come under fire as of late as the latest example of "whitewashing."

Shortly after the trailer debuted in July, Fresh Off the Boat star Constance Wu bashed the movie on Twitter, stating that "our heroes don't look like Matt Damon." The Great Wall joins a growing list of recent movies that have been called out for whitewashing, such as Exodus: Gods and Kings, while Emma Stone was criticized for playing a Hawaiian character in Aloha. The casting of Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One in Marvel's Doctor Strange was also controversial, since the character is portrayed as an Asian male in the comics.

Legendary and Universal have set a February 17, 2017 release date for The Great Wall, which is shaping up to be quite the competitive weekend. This action-thriller will go up against Sony's highly-anticipated The Dark Tower, Warner Bros.' comedy Fist Fight and 20th Century Fox's A Cure For Wellness. Take a look at the new poster from The Great Wall.
