Despite The Flash TV show flourishing on The CW, DC and Warner Bros. are planning a movie that uses the same Barry Allen character only with a completely different cast. This big screen outing will also be darker in tone, tying in with Justice League and the rest of the DCEU. The same can't be said of The CW's other popular superhero series Arrow. Despite that character being a massive fan-favorite, DC and Warner Bros. aren't planning to bring Oliver Queen to the local theater any time soon. In fact, it may never happen.

Arrow just wrapped up Season 4, and has already been renewed for Season 5. Despite its popularity, it does not tie into Batman V Superman and the Justice League spinoffs at all, which hasn't sat well with some fans. While Grant Gustin's Barry Allen is getting a multiplex doppelganger in Ezra Miller, Stephen Amell will be the only Oliver Queen for the time being. And the actor doesn't seem too disappointed in that. Though, he has never been too happy that the movie side of things has shunned his small screen portion of this comic book multi-verse.

Many fans believe keeping the TV and Movie worlds separated when it comes to the DCEU is a giant misstep, for the sheer fact that the episodic side has proven to be quite successful. And both Arrow and The Flash have proven to be much more beloved that Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice. Speaking with Larry King, Amell guesses that if DC and Warner Bros. were to introduce Oliver in one of the upcoming movies, he wouldn't be the one playing him. About the possibility of Queen getting his own Green Arrow movie, the actor says this.

"Well, I mean it has become easier to take properties on television and turn them into films, but I don't know, those are things that exist out...The cinematic universe and the television universe are separate. I might not be [cast if Arrow were a movie]. I've spoken with people within DC and they've said there's no plan to bring the Green Arrow character to the cinematic universe, but things change."

There are a number of DC Comics movies lined up throughout 2020, with Suicide Squad arriving this August, followed by Wonder Woman and the first of two Justice League movies next year. Also on the current docket are solo movies for Batman, The Flash, Cyborg, Green Lantern Corp. and Shazam. Harley Quinn is also getting her own spinoff. And a Lobo movie is in the works. But none of these will be helped along by the presence of Green Arrow, whether Stephen Amell plays him or not.

As it stands, the Oliver Queen character does not fit in with the direction the movies are heading. But Batman co-writer and DC Films overseer Geoff Johns has only recently moved into his bigger position of handling these properties as they move forward. So this could change. If Green Arrow does make it into the movies, Stephen Amell has made such a mark with the character, it's hard to imagine that fans won't petition or boycott the move, especially if Amell isn't even allowed to read for the part. Having Amell become a bigger part of the DCEU would certainly bring some goodwill to this massive comic book franchise, though.
