Warner Bros.' Green Lantern Corps. is currently the last movie announced for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) slate, hitting theaters on June 19, 2020. It isn't surprising that this movie is still in the very early stages of development. The studio hasn't announced a writer or director to tackle this comic book adventure, but there have been a number of rumors swirling around this project. Today we have yet another unconfirmed report, which reveals that DC & Warner Bros. may be eyeing a beloved director to take on the Green Lantern universe, Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller.

Many fans know that George Miller has a history in the DC universe, since he was slated to direct a highly-anticipated Justice League movie way back in 2007, before the project was halted by the writers strike. After the success of Mad Max: Fury Road last year, rumors started to swirl that Warner Bros. wanted George Miller to direct an unspecified DC movie. But nothing was ever confirmed. During the latest episode of Heroic Insider, it's revealed that this unspecified movie may be Green Lantern Corps. Here's what was said on the show.

"Let me tell you what I'm hearing - I know something, I heard something yesterday. The hot rumor is George Miller... Boom! George Miller is being rumored to direct the Green Lantern Corps movie, and I think it'd be perfect for him, are you kidding me? George Miller. Again, it's just a rumor right now, I just literally heard this yesterday."

Ever since the Green Lantern Corps title was announced, it was believed that this movie will feature a number of different Green Lantern characters, including Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart. Last week, another rumor surfaced that both Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart will be featured alongside another Earth-bound Lantern, Kyle Rayner. Since no writer or director is on board yet, it's certainly possible that Kyle Rayner could be included in this story, but his involvement is by no means confirmed.

Producer Charles Roven previously hinted that they don't plan on introducing Green Lantern until Justice League Part 2, which doesn't hit theaters until June 14, 2019. Production is currently under way on Justice League Part 1 in the U.K., but it isn't known when the second part will start filming. As for George Miller, the filmmaker has teased numerous times that he plans on making a smaller movie before tackling the inevitable Mad Max: Fury Road sequel, so it isn't known if the filmmaker plans on carving out some time in his schedule to make Green Lantern Corps.
