Market Saw is reporting that a remake of Gremlins is in the works and will be stereoscopic 3D. The 1984 original Gremlins was directed by Joe Dante and launched a franchise that ended with 1990's Gremlins 2: The New Batch.

It is in the early stages with still lots of hurdles to pass, but it is being developed. This is not a 3D conversion of the original to be clear.

For those of you who haven't (gasp) seen Gremlins, the film centers on miniature green monsters who tear through the small town of Kingston Falls. Hijinks ensue as a mild-mannered bank teller releases these hideous loonies after gaining a new pet and violating two of three simple rules: No water (violated), no food after midnight (violated), and no bright light. Hilarious mayhem and destruction in a town straight out of Norman Rockwell.
