Last month we reported that Helen Mirren was in talks to star in a new remake of an 80s classic and it seems that another actress could join the film. Deadline New York is reporting that Greenberg star Greta Gerwig is in talks to portray the female lead in Arthur.

The film centers on Russell Brand's title character, a drunken playboy who stands to inherit his family fortune if he marries the girl his family wants him to marry, and becomes conflicted when he falls for another girl. Gerwig would play the other girl, described as a "charismatic shoplifter" who makes Arthur rethink his choices.

Jason Winer is directing the film from a script by Peter Baynham. No production schedule for the film has been announced.
