The trailer for Greta has been released and it starts off really innocent. However, that calm feeling doesn't last very long and it's replaced with terrifying madness instead. The movie stars Isabelle Huppert and Chloe Grace Moretz, each looking like they give stellar performances through the suspense. Neil Jordan directed and co-wrote Greta with Ray Wright and it hits theaters early next year after being bought for $6 million at the Toronto Film Festival during an all-night auction this past fall.

Neil Jordan was attracted to the idea of Greta because it wasn't about "vampires and it wasn't about demons and monsters who lived for 2,000 years in a dark hole under the earth." After watching the trailer, there definitely are not any demons or vampires, but that doesn't make the villain any less evil. When asked about her character, Isabelle Huppert said, "Well, she's a monster. That's enough." Jordan went on to say that the movie is about, "somebody who is deeply, deeply insane and psychopathic."

Chloe Moretz plays Frances in Greta, a sweet, naive young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City. Frances doesn't think twice about returning a handbag that she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. As it turns out, the owner is Greta, played by Isabelle Huppert. She's an eccentric French piano teacher with a love for classical music and is terribly lonely. Frances recently lost her mother and she and Greta quickly grow closer together. However, things start to get weird when Frances discovers a bunch of the same handbags that she found on the subway. From there, we learn that Greta is not who we think she is and Frances' life is turned upside down.

Isabella Huppert's performance is chilling in the Greta trailer alone. Reviews for the thriller have given praise to the actress for pulling off the insane character, while also being able to ballet dance and teach piano. But, when those cracks start to show, Huppert becomes amazingly scary. Chloe Grace Moretz has also been receiving praise for her work in the movie playing the victim, while gaining the upper hand a few times. One look at the trailer will have you hooked, just like the poster suggests.

Greta opens in theaters on March 1st, 2019. In addition to Chloe Grace Moretz and Isabelle Huppert, the movie also stars Maika Monroe, Colm Feore, Zawe Ashton, Parker Sawyers, Stephen Rea, and Karen Richards. The thriller is Neil Jordan's first movie since 2012's Byzantium and it looks like any fan of the director's is going to want to check this one out. If the movie is half as intense as the short trailer is, we're all going to be in for a pretty awesome treat. You can watch the trailer for Greta below, thanks to the Focus Features YouTube channel.
