The Ballad of Bettie Page: According to Production Weekly, Gretchen Mol will portray Bettie Page, America's greatest pin-up girl of the 1950's, in Mary Harron's The Ballad of Bettie Page, written by Harron and Guinevere Turner (American Psycho). Production on the bio pic is expected to begin the first week of April in New York.

Bettie Page challenged the conservative 1950's, posing as a fierce dominatrix, and earning both a cult underground following and a Senate Committee investigation on juvenile deliquency, essentially a witch-hunt orchestrated by a senator from her home state of Tennesee bent on exploiting her as a steppingstone to the White House.

At the height of her popularity, Page disappeared. Some feared she had been killed by the mob, while others said she became a born-again Christian and was ashamed of her infamous bondage modeling. In 1979 and 1982, Page (a diagnosed schizophrenic) tried to stab several people to death and was institutionalized.
