In the opening moments of Marvel Studios' massive Hall H panel at Comic-Con, Kevin Feige was asked by moderator Chris Hardwick why the studio famously skipped the convention last year. The studio president and producer stated that, "We only want to come when we have a lot of stuff to show you," which set the tone for the panel that featured the first trailer for Doctor Strange, along with sneak peeks at Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok and the confirmation of Brie Larson starring in Captain Marvel. One of the biggest highlights of the panel, however, was the colorful introduction of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars, along with the jaw-dropping footage they presented.

Unfortunately, Marvel didn't release the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 footage quite yet, but the studio has provided us with videos featuring highlights from the panel, along with video interviews with director James Gunn and some of the sequel's stars. Cast members Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Kurt Russell (Ego), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Michael Rooker (Yondu) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis). These interviews came after some shocking developments were revealed in the footage presented in Hall H.

Shortly after Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters, director James Gunn teased that fans will learn the identity of Star-Lord's dad in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The director also confirmed that the father won't be the same character as it was in the Marvel Comics, J'son, which lead to multiple theories as to who Peter Quill's father could be. It was revealed in the Comic-Con footage that Ego the Living Planet, played by Kurt Russell, is in fact Star-Lord's father, which was quite surprising indeed.

The footage features the Ravagers wreaking havoc when they come across Baby Groot, who Taserface determines too adorable to kill. Another scene features Yondu sporting a new orange mohawk as he enters the Ravagers' lair and destroys them all with his special weapon, the Yaka Arrow. The final clip revealed Rocket Raccoon hurling insults at several different characters along with the entire team bickering, before the footage revealed Sylvester Stallone, although it wasn't revealed who he is playing. Some believe that, judging by his outfit, he could be another Ravager but it isn't known for sure. The end of the clip features a giant space pod landing, with Kurt Russell exiting the pod. When Star-Lord asks, "Who the hell are you," Kurt Russell's character Ego reveals, "I thought my good looks would make it obvious. My name is Ego. And I'm your dad."

While it isn't known when we'll see this footage online, Marvel did unveil the Ego the Living Planet costume Kurt Russell wears in this sequel, at the Marvel Stage at San Diego Comic-Con for the last day of this convention. We'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as this footage comes online for this sequel, which is set for release on May 5, 2017, which will kick off the summer movie season next year. Until then, take a look at the panel highlights and and video interviews with the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 cast and director James Gunn below.
